Dreamer at Love & Magic Company
Chinedu Echeruo is a serial entrepreneur who has dared to invent the future: In 2005, he founded HopStop, the pioneering travel app that helped millions of users navigate public transportation in major metropolitan areas around the world. Apple acquired HopStop in 2013 and subsequently incorporated much of HopStop’s functionality into Apple Maps. Chinedu also founded Tripology, a lead-generation and referral business for the travel industry. Tripology was acquired by Rand McNally and later owned by USA Today. Chinedu believes that individuals, empowered by imagination and information, can solve virtually any problem. He is now the co-founder of the Love & Magic Company, a start-up studio that co-builds companies with innovative organizations. The studio’s first portfolio company is MindMeet.us, the easiest way for people anywhere in the world to share their knowledge, inspire others, and raise money for charity. Fees are set by the knowledge giver and are donated directly to his or her charity. MindMeet was created to link human knowledge for good. The intent of the platform is to democratize knowledge and to translate the intangible and often inexpressible aspects of people, ideas, and innovation into a conversation that is open to all.
#cut50 seeks to reduce the U.S. prison population by half and facilitate relationships between leaders from both parties, tech entrepreneurs, and criminal justice activists so they can identify solutions to mass incarceration and effective alternative sentencing programs. Through a series of community-focused summits and workshops, #cut50 will increase general awareness of the burden mass incarceration puts on society and the colossal waste of resources being expended in the current criminal justice system.
